{Bookish Finds} Where I Live by Brenda Rufener

Where I Live
By: Brenda Rufener
Published on: February 27th 2018 by HarperTeen
Genres: YA Mystery

Linden Rose has a big secret--she is homeless and living in the halls of her small-town high school. Her position as school blog editor, her best friends, Ham and Seung, and the promise of a future far away are what keep Linden under the radar and moving forward.

But when cool-girl Bea comes to school with a bloody lip, the damage hits too close to home. Linden begins looking at Bea's life, and soon her investigation prompts people to pay more attention. And attention is the last thing she needs.

Linden knows the only way to put a stop to the violence is to tell Bea's story and come to terms with her own painful past. Even if that means breaking her rules for survival and jeopardizing the secrets she's worked so hard to keep.
I always choose a book based on the book cover. I must admit that I wouldn't pick this book based on the cover but somehow, the summary posted in Words I Write Crazy's post convinced me that this book is worth a read. I guess it's because Liden's past is so vague in the summary that it made me want to find out more. It's going to be released in a few weeks' time. Let's see if I'll grab a copy at the bookstore.

{Bookish Finds} Mount Emily by Low Ying Ping

Mount Emily
By: Low Ying Ping
Published by: Epigram Books on March 2016
Genres: Mystery (YA)

While digging around their school’s backyard in search of an urban legend, Patsy Goh and her best friend Elena are whisked back in time to 1987. Trapped in their mums’ 13-year-old bodies, the duo race against the clock to hunt down the magical time crystal that got them in this mess, before the evil Midnight Warriors find it and cause a time crisis that could destroy all of existence.
I came across this book while doing some window shopping at the bookstore. It caught my attention for a few reasons:

1. The story is set in Singapore.
2. The main characters are students.
3. Time travel!!!
4. Girls who were trapped in their mothers' bodies in the past.

Such an interesting plot! I've already ordered a copy and waiting for it to arrive!

{Bookish Finds} All Fall Down By Ally Carter

All Fall Down
Series: Embassy Row #1
By: Ally Carter
Published by: January 20th 2015 by Scholastic Press
Genres: Mystery (YA)
Target: Grade 7 to 12
Age Group: 12 to 17

Grace Blakely is absolutely certain of three things:

1. She is not crazy.
2. Her mother was murdered.
3. Someday she is going to find the killer and make him pay.

As certain as Grace is about these facts, nobody else believes her -- so there's no one she can completely trust. Not her grandfather, a powerful ambassador. Not her new friends, who all live on Embassy Row. Not Alexei, the Russian boy next door, who is keeping his eye on Grace for reasons she neither likes nor understands.

Everybody wants Grace to put on a pretty dress and a pretty smile, blocking out all her unpretty thoughts. But they can't control Grace -- no more than Grace can control what she knows or what she needs to do. Her past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn't stop it, Grace isn't the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.

I saw from a blog that the third book Take the Key and Lock Her Up is going to be released on 27th December. The synopsis sounds so interesting and exciting! (Plus the rating on Goodreads is 4.57 when I just went to check it a few seconds ago.)

From the reviews that I've read, the downside to this book would be the predictable plot and lack of complexity.

The second book, See How They Run was published at the end of December 2015. It's got quite a good rating too! 4.1! But it seems like the second book wasn't as good as the first but there are readers who simply love the book.

Inside every secret, there's a world of trouble. Get ready for the second book in this new series of global proportions--from master of intrigue, New York Times bestselling author Ally Carter.

Grace's past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn't stop it, Grace isn't the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.

The twists get twistier and the turns get even more shocking in the second thrilling installment of Embassy Row.

To me, the third book promises a good story. It has a catchy title that immediately captures my attention. Take the Key and Lock Her Up show hints of danger and excitement which got me hyped up. Safe to say that I will be trying to get my hands on this series.

THE PRINCESS IS DEAD.
LONG LIVE THE PRINCESS.

Centuries ago, the royal family of Adria was killed . . . or so everyone thought.
Now Grace Blakely knows the truth:

There was one survivor, and that survivor’s blood runs through her veins. This simple fact could cause a revolution — which is why some people will stop at nothing to keep it from coming to light.

There is only one way for Grace to save herself, save her family, and save the boy she loves. She must outmaneuver her foes, cut through the web of lies that has surrounded her for years, and go back to the source of all her troubles, despite the risk.

If she wins, she will inherit a throne.

And if she loses, she will inherit the fate of all the dead princesses who came before her.

So, what do you think of this series?
